Getting the Details Right

Developing a wetsuit is rarely about getting one big thing right. It is usually a lot of smaller decisions working together.

The neoprene you choose changes how the suit feels. Panel shapes affect fit and movement. Seam placement, thickness, linings, zippers and reinforcements all have an effect on the finished wetsuit.

How It Works

Start by showing us what you have. It could be an idea, sketches, reference images, an existing wetsuit, a prototype or a complete tech pack.

We will review the project with you and work out what needs to be developed, including the patterns, materials, fit and technical details. Once we have enough in place, we make the prototype for you to test and evaluate.

Some products are close on the first prototype. Others need changes and another round. We work through the feedback together until the product is ready for approval.

Once approved, we finalise everything needed to move the product into production at our factory.

From Development to Manufacturing, Without a Handoff

Product development and manufacturing both happen within Ocean Tailored.

The patterns, materials and specifications we establish during development become the reference for production. There is no need to finish development with us and then start again with another factory.

This also keeps manufacturing in mind while the product is being developed.

Depending on the project, there may be pattern development, material trials, prototypes, testing and more than one round of changes before we are happy to move into production.
