Wetsuit Care
Taking care of your wetsuit isn't just about looking after your gear; it's about making sure it lasts and performs well. Proper wetsuit care can significantly extend its lifespan, ensuring you get the most out of your investment. Follow 3 simple steps below to help you keep your wetsuit in great condition.
1. Rinse In Fresh Water After Every Session
After ending the session, the first thing you should do is rinse your wetsuit with fresh water. Saltwater and debris can be pretty harsh on neoprene. A thorough rinse will remove any lingering salt and grime, keeping the neoprene in good shape.
2. How to Dry a Wetsuit
One of the biggest things to remember is to NOT put your wetsuit in the dryer, and do not dry it in direct sunlight, direct sunlight can be pretty damaging to neoprene., it’s best to never do it.
Additionally, UV rays can cause the material to break down more quickly, leading to a shorter lifespan for your wetsuit. Instead, find a shady spot to let it air dry naturally.
3. Hang It Right
When it's time to hang your wetsuit, avoid the temptation to hang it by the shoulders on a regular hanger. This can stretch out the neoprene, which is not good news for your wetsuit. Instead, hang it at the waist. This method helps maintain the wetsuit’s shape and prolongs its life.
By following these simple care tips, you'll not only extend the life of your wetsuit but also ensure it remains in top-notch condition, ready for your next adventure in the water.
